Peer to Peer Counseling
We have found that Clients like to talk with someone who 'has been there.' So it is no surprise that the most utilized BCRC service is our Peer Counseling, whether by telephone or walk-in visit at the center. We offer one on one counseling, emotional support, while address practical needs and pertinent educational information. We help you with resources regarding breast cancer care and act as source to local resource such as: radiologists, breast surgeons, onocologists, etc.
The Peer-Counselors, resource volunteers and BCRC Staff are positive role models, most of whom have coped with breast cancer. They provide guidance and perspective, and help each client learn how to navigate the treatment cycle, and gain insight which instills optimisim.
Additionally we have a Buddy Program where we match newly diagnosed women with a survivor for mentoring.
No appointment necessary. We welcome walk-in visits and questions by telephone. Feel free to bring your friend, spouse or partner, and/or family along with you for your visit with us.
You are welcome to also join our Support Group for emotional support and networking with others dealing with similar challenges during treatment.
Please contact us if you would like to become a Resource Volunteer.

Testimonials
"I can't imagine how I would have gotten through treatments and recovery if it weren't for the BCRC Spanish outreach and support group services. Now, I am committed as a volunteer and Spanish speaking "Buddy" so their programs will continue to be available to others like me."Bertha, BCRC client & "Buddy" volunteer
